Gabriel Jesus has made an encouraging start to life at FC Barcelona after completing his move from Arsenal on deadline day. The Brazilian forward signed a three-year contract with the Catalan giants, keeping him at the club until June 2029. The transfer was reportedly worth around £8.6 million (€10 million).

‎

‎The 29-year-old arrived in Barcelona looking for a fresh chapter after a difficult period at Arsenal that was affected by injuries and increased competition for places. During his four years in North London, Jesus made 123 appearances, scoring 32 goals and providing 22 assists. He was also part of Arsenal's Premier League-winning squad in the 2025/26 season.

‎

‎His first appearance for Barcelona came against Valencia, with Jesus introduced in the second half of the Catalan club's emphatic 5–0 victory. Although he had only around 15 minutes on the pitch, he immediately showed promising movement, linked up with teammates and nearly scored with an effort from outside the box. His performance was viewed positively by the Spanish media, despite the limited playing time.

‎

‎The move also gives Jesus an opportunity to revive his career at one of Europe's biggest clubs. Barcelona see him as a versatile forward capable of playing centrally and contributing through his movement, pressing and ability to combine with attacking players. The club's official profile describes him as a mobile centre-forward who is particularly effective at finding space and getting behind defenders.

‎

‎Jesus has also spoken positively about the move, describing his arrival at Barcelona as a dream. After a challenging spell with injuries and competition for minutes at Arsenal, the Brazilian now has the chance to establish himself in a new attacking system under Hansi Flick.

‎

‎His Barcelona journey has only just begun, but his brief debut against Valencia offered an early glimpse of what he could bring. If he can remain fit and regain his best form, Gabriel Jesus could prove to be one of Barcelona's most interesting attacking additions this season.
