Blockbuster Battle: Real Madrid Prepares Mammoth €150M Bid for Man City’s Rodri

Real Madrid are reportedly preparing to shatter their transfer record with an eye-watering €150 million offer for Manchester City's midfield linchpin, Rodri.

The Spanish giants view the current Ballon d'Or winner as the cornerstone for their midfield rebuild, especially following the recent departures of veteran legends like Luka Modrić and Toni Kroos.

Rodri, who turned 29 this year, has established himself as arguably the world's best defensive midfielder since joining City from Atlético Madrid in 2019. His exceptional control, tactical intelligence, and ability to dictate the tempo have been central to City's prolonged success.

Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez is said to be highly motivated to secure the Spain international, believing Rodri's arrival would reshape the team's dynamics for the next decade.

The reported €150 million figure significantly surpasses previous interest, which was rumoured to be around the €100 million mark. However, Manchester City's stance remains resolute: Rodri is not for sale. The Premier League champions consider him an "irreplaceable" and "priceless commodity" at the Etihad Stadium.

Club sources have reportedly made it clear that they have no intention of entertaining any offers. Rodri’s contract runs until 2027, which gives Real Madrid a limited window of opportunity, hoping to strike a deal next summer before City risk losing him for a reduced fee in the final year of his contract.

Adding further complexity to the saga, some reports from Spain suggest that Real Madrid may have cooled their immediate interest due to concerns over the cost, Rodri’s age, and a recent muscular injury he sustained, questioning the financial risk of such a massive investment. Despite these contrasting reports, the spectacle of a major European powerhouse tabling one of the biggest transfer offers in football history for City's key player ensures this story will dominate headlines for the foreseeable future.

Real Madrid is pursuing Rodri with a reported record-breaking €150 million bid, seeing the Ballon d'Or winner as the perfect long-term successor for their departed midfield greats. In contrast, Manchester City has adopted an "immovable" stance, deeming the player "not for sale" and an "irreplaceable" cornerstone of Pep Guardiola's team.

The transfer saga is a high-stakes battle between the two European giants, with Real Madrid hoping Rodri's 2027 contract expiry date might eventually force City to negotiate, despite the Premier League club’s current firm refusal.
