England Hit by Major Injury Blow as Five Stars Withdraw
Cole Palmer, Declan Rice, Marcus Rashford, Tino Livramento, and Kobbie Mainoo have all been ruled out of the upcoming international fixtures. The withdrawals remove several important options from Tuchel’s squad just days before England begins their Nations League campaign.
Palmer had only recently returned to the England squad after being left out of the 2026 World Cup team. The Chelsea forward had also made a strong start to the club season, registering four goals and two assists in seven matches before his withdrawal.
To strengthen the squad, Tuchel has called up Everton midfielder James Garner and Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White. Garner has two senior England caps, while Gibbs-White has made six appearances for the Three Lions.
England's first Nations League match will be a huge test against Spain at Wembley on Saturday, September 26. They will then face Czechia in Prague, Croatia in Rijeka, and Czechia again at Wembley during the extended international window.
With five players now unavailable, Tuchel will have to reshuffle his squad and rely on other members of the team as England begins their first Nations League campaign since the 2026 World Cup.
England's Nations League schedule:
🇬🇧 England vs Spain — September 26
🇨🇿 Czechia vs England — September 29
ðŸ‡ðŸ‡· Croatia vs England — October 3
🇬🇧 England vs Czechia — October 6
